Reconstruction of Outdoor Switchgear (ORU) –500, 220 kV at Zainsk Condensation Plant
Zainsk Condensation Plant is a largest power plant of inter-system value, connecting Urals and Center of RF. The big share of electrical capacity, generated at the Plant, is consumed by Kazan and Zakamie power regions, the electricity goes to them along the aerial electricity transfer lines 500 and 220 kV.
In view of this the significance of the outdoor switchgears 500 kV and 220 kV, to which these aerial lines are connected and through which the capacity generated at the Plant, goes to consumers, is extremely vital.
The equipment of the outdoor switchgears 500, 220 kV has been operated over 40 years, the equipment is obsolete and worn out. The provision of consumers in the Volga region with the reliable electricity supply and provision the overflows of electrical capacity of Urals and center of RF imply the urgent reconstruction of the aerial switches and their replacement with the sulfur hexafluoride switches as well as replacement of the current transformers and protection relays and automatics with the state-of-the-art microprocessor ones.
The power system started these works in 2003. It is planned to start replacing the obsolete equipment with the new sulfur hexafluoride in 2008
Term for realization:
2003-2008
Project stages:
I stage (reconstruction of open switchgears 220 kV) - 2003-2006
II stage (reconstruction of open switchgears 500 kV) - 2004-2008
In 2005 the three physically and morally obsolete sells 220 kV were replaced with the new ones.
In 2006 6 cells 220 kV were replaced.
