Installation of the two GTU-25 at Kazan Co-Generation Plant –1

Kazan Co-Generation Plant -1 has been built according to GOERLO Plan. It is located in the downtown of Kazan and supplies energy to the neighboring industrial enterprises, residential houses and social sphere entities.

Installation of the two gas - turbine units (GTU) of total electrical capacity 50 МW with recovery boilers, utilizing the heat of the turbine combustion gas, would allow the fuel utilization factor of the gas - turbine units to reach 84%. The recovery boilers will generate about 40 Gcal/h of heat with steam 30 ata and 20 Gcal/h of heat with hot water. The gas - turbine units will be operating in the base load mode.

This will allow to considerably increase the cost-efficiency of the plant, especially in summer period, when the specific fuel consumption for electricity output reaches 560 g/kWh, for heat output - 151 kg/Gcal.

Project implementation will considerably increase the reliability of electricity supply to central historical part of the city.

Commissioning of the new generation capacities will decrease the shortage of electrical capacity in Kazan power region, the shortage reaches 700 МW in winter. We should take into account that commissioning of the new generation capacities within the city limits will allow to some extent discharge the transit line of electricity transmission 500 kV it will provide the Federal transits.

2004 - design, beginning of construction, making equipment
2005 - competition of construction, equipment mounting, computerized system for control over technological processes (ASUTP), commissioning-adjustment works, putting into operation.

In July 2006 the GT was commissioned. Specific consumption of fuel for electricity supply in IV quarter of 2006 was 221.9 g/kWh, for heat supply - 147.7 kg/Gcal.

Project has been completed.
