The year of 2001 becomes the year of financial recovery of the power system, enhancing the business results of PEO "Tatenergo", reached in 2000. Due to support of TR Government and because of realization of program of financial recovery, the radical changes take place in business activities of the power company, and its 70-th anniversary the power system of Tatarstan meets with paramount results. The association reaches the level of profitability of 16%, the growth of volume of products reached 32.2%. For the last previous years there was practically established the brand new system of energy sales, and the share of the "cash" in the payments reached 98%, which was a result of the strict policy of "PEO "Tatenergo" with consumers. The growth of share of "cash" and decrease of the debtor indebtedness allow to increase the amount of deductions to the budgets of each level, to effect the timely payments for the fuel, to commission the new power operations and reconstruct the low voltage lines in the rural regions of the Republic, taken on balance of "PEO "Tatenergo" in accordance with the Resolution of Tatarstan Government. The volume of investments into power system compared to 2000 increases by 30% and constitutes over 1.2 billion rubles.
The year of was marked by commissioning of the peak boiler house in the town of Yelabuga with the two powerful hot water boilers. Also there were put into operation the SS 110/35/10 kV "Aksubayevo " and "Zapadnaya", furnished with the state-of –the-art SF-6 equipment.

The significant event of 2001 was the resolution by Government of Tatarstan to incorporate into the power system of KUP UREIK from the town of Nab. Chelny - the biggest reseller of heat and the debtor regarding the payments for energy. Of the 392 km of the heating grids taken for maintenance by the Nab. Chelny division of Kazan heating grids of "PEO "Tatenergo" 180 km are absolutely worn out, a lot of money were allocated for enhancing the reliable heat supply in Nab. Chelny.
The break-through in "PEO "Tatenergo" was commissioning of the system for commercial metering of electrical energy, monitoring the intersystem current overruns. At the same time the task of attracting investments into the power engineering industry was set before Government of Tatarstan already in July of 2001. Also this task involved the use if the efficient facilities, which task requires the system modernization of the fixed assets and development of the concept of restructuring of the power complex of Republic in view of the coming reforming of RAO "UES Rossii". Beginning from the end of the year the power association begins the reforming of the repair companies on basis of the market principles, and in November the functions of the company "Tatenergoremont" in Zakamie area of the Republic were transferred to the newly established commercial organization "Kamenergoremont" Ltd.

In July of 2001 the government delegation from Bashkortostan came with business visit to Republic of Tatarstan, which visit resulted in signing of the four agreements, two of which were related to power engineering industry: General Agreement on cooperation in the area of power engineering industry and the Agreement between Ministry of Natural Resources of RF, the Government of BR and the Government of TR regarding the relationships on regime of operation of Nizhnekamsk water storage basin. In September of this year there were held the first intersystem sporting events between "Bashkirenergo" and "Tatenergo", and the meetings for exchange of production and sales expertise become traditional.
In November of 2001 "PEO "Tatenergo" is among the 28 companies – the founders of Administrator of Trading System (ATS), and the Deputy General Director of "Tatenergo" Fanis Nafikov was elected into the Supervisory Council of ATS. In the same year the "PEO "Tatenergo" become a founder of the National Non-governmental retirement foundation.
The big success was reached by the power system of Tatarstan in this year, and the results were awarded by the Coordination Committee of the international program "Partnership fro Progress", the "PEO "Tatenergo" was awarded a special prize of the program - "Golden Model", symbolizing dependability, stability and success.
The General Director of "PEO "Tatenergo" I.S. Fardiyev for his efficient methods of management was named the "Director of the Year-2001" and was awarded the golden medal and diploma. Regarding the results of the same year Mr. I.S. Fardiyev was awarded another golden medal and the name "Manager of the Year 2001" in the nomination "Power Engineering Industry" at the All-Russia competition for the name of the best manager, organized by the International Management Academy and the Voluntary Economical Community. In the same nomination there were another laureates – the directors of Privolzhskiye EG, Mr. E.Y. Abdullazyanov and Naberezhnye Chelny CO-GENERATION PLANT S.M. Tyuklin. In the same year the chief accountant of "PEO "Tatenergo" G.A. Busygina was named "Best Accountant of Russia ". The name "Best Manager of Power Engineering Company" was awarded to the General Director of "PEO "Tatenergo" I.S. Fardiyev also for the achievements of the Republican competition "Manager of the Year 2001". For utilization of the resource and energy conservation technologies GUP PEO "Tatenergo" was awarded the Diploma of III degree at the international specialized exhibition "Power Engineering. Resource Conservation", where the techniques of multi-stage evaporation of water using the thermal desalting facility at the Kazan CO-GENERATION PLANT-3 was focused upon. To the aim of studying the experience of "PEO "Tatenergo" in the area of introduction of the new resource conservation technologies of water pre-treatment, in September of 2001 there was organized the seminar at the plant, where the specialists and researchers from Russia gathered.

Basing on the results for the year of 2001 "PEO "Tatenergo" was awarded the Honor Chart of the Government of Russian Federation "for the accomplishments in organization of the social work ", which is a marker of high level of social support to personnel of the power system, based on the Branch Tariff Agreement between the Trade Union "Tatelektroprofsoyuz" and administration of the power association, and on active participation of "PEO "Tatenergo" in the Republican social programs.
The other award received by "PEO "Tatenergo" in 2001 was the major prize of the Republican competition of the journalists "Crystal Stylus", awarded to the General Director of the power association as the winner in nomination "for openness in relationships with journalists". It was a result of policy of informational openness and financial transparency, pursued by the management of the power system and aimed at eliminating the negative image of the previous decades and formation of the brand new positive image of the progressive corporation.
To the aim of attracting the journalists to focusing on the problems of the power engineering complex of the Republic, beginning from 2000 "PEO "Tatenergo" has conducted the annual competition among the regional and Republican media "Multi-Image Power Engineering". Since December 1999 the monthly corporate editorial "Our Energy" is issued in the power system, and there was successfully launched the internal WEB-site, and in 2001 – the official outside WEB-site of JSC "Tatenergo".
