For high figures of Tatarstan energy holding development promoting the economical growth and social well -being of Russian Federation and implementation of Program of President of Russian Federation for doubling the GDP by 2010, JSC "Tatenergo" was awarded the title Laureate of International Premium of 2006 with awarding the Diploma of the Leader of economical growth and golden figurine of Mercury.

The 90’s feature the change in the entire strategy of the power system development, due to the paramount changes in the economical condition in the country, which resulted in a disaster setback of production and the sharp decrease of demand for energy on the part of the industrial companies. Under condition of the big reserve of the power there was no need in increase of the power. The refurbishment, reconstruction and modernization of equipment became the major goals in policy, considering that the service life of basic generation operations of the power plants and the substations has ended.
At the thermal power stations there were the mass replacements of the heating surfaces of the boiler units, replacements of the major steam pipelines, accessories, pumps etc., in the heating grids there were the replacements of the trunk and quarter heating pipelines, in Kazan CO-GENERATION PLANT-2 in 1994 there was commissioned the new facility for heating grid feeding of the capacity 300 t/h and in 2002 there was completed the large-scale reconstruction of the power boiler st. # 11 of the 200 t/h capacity.
In electricity grids there continued the construction and commissioning of the new substations:
- In Kazan electricity grids - SS (Substation) - 220 kV Trunk with two auto-transformers of 125 th. kW each and three SS-110 kV - Optika, Noksa and Salmachi;
- In Bugulma electricity grids - SS-220 kV Pismyanka with the two auto-transformers of 125 th. kW each, SS-110 kV Neftyanik, SS-35 kV Chuti, VL-110 kV Pismyanka - Bugulma;
- In Yelabuga electricity grids - SS-220 kV Toima with two ñ auto-transformers of 200 th. kW each and ten substations 110 kV;
- In Nizhnekamsk electricity grids - seven SS for 110 kV and one SS for 35 kV;
- In Buinsk electricity grids -six SS-110 kV and one SS-35 kV;
- In Privolzhskiye electricity grids - six SS-110 kV and one SS-35 kV;
- In Chistopol electricity grids - SS-220 kV Chistopol with two transformers of 125 th. kW each and line-220 kV Nizhnekamsk-Chistopol and two Lines -110 kV Kargali-Chistopol; two SS-110 kV and one SS of 35 kV were put into operation.
In electricity grids there were conducted the large-scale works related to reconstruction and replacement of obsolete equipment:
- In Kazan electricity grids at SS Kinderi-500kV there were replaced the 4 phases of the groups of 500/220 kV, the auto-transformer AT 200 th. kW was changed for 220/110 kV voltage, there were replaced the breakers for the sulfur hexafluoride ones at 500 kV, 220 kV and 4 breakers âûêëþ÷àòåëÿ at 110 kV, the new OPU was commissioned;
- In Bugulma electricity grids at SS Bugulma-500 there was done the replacement of the auto-transformer ÀÒ-1 500/110 kV of 405 th. kW capacity and ÀÒ-2 500/220 kV of 501 th. kW capacity, the breakers of 110 kV are replaced with the sulfur hexafluoride ones;
- In Almetiyevsk electricity grids there was done the partial reconstruction of the SS-220 kV Abdrahmanovo, Aznakayevo and SS-110 kV Muslyumovo and Sarmanovo;
- In Yelabuga electricity grids SS 110 kV Setyakovo and Mamadysh;
- In Nab. Chelny electricity grids there is conducted the reconstruction of SS 110 kV Chelny and Tsentr;
- In Chistopolñêèõ electricity grids there were done the partial reconstruction of SS 110 kV Alexeyevskaya, Bazarnye Mataki, Chasovaya II.
